UT4

UT4 mapping in october 2015

How goes the creation of maps by the community for UT4 in october 2015? Frankly, I have never seen so many maps in development for years! Every day, new maps appear in forums and they are so numerous that I have trouble following! This is certainly one of the strongest periods of maps development since UT99, which is saying something strong for a pre-alpha game that is now at its 4th edition in 16 years of history 😀

Just for the remakes, UT4 already count 120 and it continues to increase which is entirely unbelievable considering the game still has the pre-alpha status 🙂 We can easily imagine that with all items in development (GUI, maps, mods, skins, weapons, etc.) that will be added over the years will make UT4 ​​the most popular and most successful of all UTs. A triumph in the FPS world!

For me, knowing that EU4 is free, having experience as a mapper and see all those pretty meshes, it makes me really want to map. However, I have very little time to play UT, so mapping is unfortunately unthinkable 😦 I wish, one day I’ll be able to map again and I would looooooove to remake some of my UT3 maps back in UT4!

Link Gun hi-poly renders

Watching this week stream, I was amazed to see the Link Gun hi-poly renders! Seriously, YemYam modeling skills are fantastic 😀 Still, the colors aren’t set yet. As YemYam mentioned in the Link Gun dev thread “This is NOT the material look, although for the in game version we did stick with something similar yet more weathered, and of course logos and decals and stuff that bring the design some life. We kept it a little on the plain side because we loved all of the paint-overs and color variants so we want the default to be more plain and the custom skins/textures to be more extreme.” So now, the pretty renders 🙂

Rocket Launcher hi-poly renders

Watching this week stream, I was amazed to see the Rocket Launcher hi-poly renders 😀 Seriously, the modeling is fantastic ! Therefore, the colors aren’t set yet. After my post in the Rocket Launcher dev thread. YemYam said “The colors are just for the hi poly only. I kept tweaking it here and there and the renders take a long time so I just gave up. Those renders do not reflect what the in game default model will be, we will make it cool and more color diverse I promise I just didn’t want to waste any more time on hi poly renders when the in game low poly is all that matters!” So, here the pretty renders 🙂

Rocket Launcher alternate skins

Right after Gooba posted few Rocket Launcher paint-overs, it hasn’t took long that other community members made paint-overs over his paint-overs! I must say they all look fantastic 😀 I’ve took the images, add a tad of contrast and add a little border for my weapon concepts collection and share the pics with you, dear readers 🙂 The first three are by hi-ban and the last by HenrikRyosa. Necris female progress and hommage

Art, art, art… once again, I normally don’t post WIP art stuff but… hey, sometime there are things that I found so awesome that I just can’t resist to share them 😀

Watching the last stream (08-19), Chris Perna show us new WIP Necris female. I really like where Epic is going with their model so far. Gooba’s Rocket Launcher skins

Art, art, art… I normally don’t post art stuff but sometime there are things that I cannot resist to share…

I must say that everytime Gooba post a concept or a paintover, I almost fall from my chair ! I mean, damn, how can someone can possibly craft and make paintover in such a short period of time and maintain that level of quality in all his work !!?? Even worst, while I do love ALL of those Rocket Launcher skins, the most (Classic, Viper, Moon, Dragon and Wolf) are WIP’s from Gooba’s point of view ! Cycloptic Implant by KazeoHin-TechAE

Paul Stratton aka. KazeoHin-TechAE is the guy who made the UT4 Flak Cannon. He’s making other stuff too 🙂 Cosmetics stuff which can be found in his Paul’s other cosmetics thread. He’s working on a Cycloptic Implant which will be an official character cosmetic item in a near feature 😀 The quality of this item, even at this stage is simply incredible !

Epic choose the newest concept from Gooba for the new Rocket Launcher which YemYam will start modeling soon 🙂 I’m quite happy because I love this concept, it’s the best I’ve saw so far 😀 The color hasn’t been choose yet but in all case, it will look damn awesome !
