UT4 10/10/2016 release notes available

The next public release is very close and promises major changes in the game. I must say, after reading the release notes, I’m not very enthusiast about it, far from it 😦

The map I’m currently working of will be affected by the mentioned changes and not in a good way since I’m making the layout, part of the map so it’s preferable to use this or that weapon.

I also see some talented mappers putting an old on their map since Epic is heading into a direction that isn’t much what the community was hoping for in the first place. This is very sad I must say.

Anyway, I’ll see…

Making of CTF-LostTomb by Chris Kay

Chris Kay, an Epic employee, started working on a new level for an experimental game mode 🙂 This time, he decided to record himself working on it. He produce a commentary style videos of it’s development and every session was fully captured. The videos have been speed up 5 times because it’s about 30 hours of work! Honestly, the speed works very well so you can understand what is going on with the addition of commentary 😀 There are 6 videos in total but only 5 of 6 as been published yet. Good watching 😉

My new map for UT4…

I didn’t thought I’ll be writing this but since ±2 month, I’m playing with the UT4 editor and building a new DM map 😀

In the map making process, instead of making the layout with BSP and then replacing the BSP shell by meshes, I’m directly adding meshes to craft the layout. In the contrary to my previous maps, I don’t have a layout in mind so I’m crafting the layout as far as I go by adding meshes and play with them 🙂

I won’t go trough the standard process neither (alpha-beta-RC-final) but instead release 1 – 2 versions (R1, R2) before the final just for debugging purpose. So, I don’t know when I’ll release the first version (R1) to the public, only time will tell! I’m pretty sure this news will make my readers happy 😉 Now, few renders from the editor 😀
