Look like a bunch of really great HOLP maps that was to be included in a HOLP4 are published separately all in a sudden!
DM-Cipe, CTF-Gravis & now this one 😀
Damn, if another HOLP pack was released, it would be my top one for sure 🙂
As for DM-Delhon, it look & feel very UT at least visually because I didn’t play it yet. I won’t be surprise to like it héhé 🙂
If mini-me map or huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge map is your thing, you won’t be disappointed with this one ! They are so rare that when this kind of map is release, I like to advertise them 😀
Yep, a awesome UT99 level that as been in the making since 2 years & it’s a blast indeed 😀
From the author :
“2 years in production. I originally wanted to make a CTF map but seeing that 1\2 of CTF layout pretty much exceeds about 2\3 of Ued Node Limit, I decided to go for DM arena.”

Believe it or not, this is a HOLP base map so that mean it’s mostly a BSP level & not a full meshed one!
I’m seriously impress by the brush work, it’s really outstanding & also all the other aspects (emitters, particles, materials, music, ambient sounds, footstep sounds, etc) are well made. Not only everything blend well together but add the lighting to all that, it’s really fantastic 😀
There is something very cool. The preview pic is animated, video-like. The first map that introduce this cool feature was DM-Glacial by Chonglee (aka Moonflyer) which Moonflyer is part of the testers. So it’s not new but different from the rest add something nice to the final package 🙂
I can’t say really nothing negative except 2 small things according to my pov of course.
1. Many ammo are much to close to wall while there is plenty of space around them?
2. There is a Necris arch SM that imo don’t fit with the rest.
So anyway, this is really an outstanding map. It as been in dev since months & it shows!
The links :
I was following the map dev since some time & at last, I’ve played it & it’s a keeper for sure 😀 In the other hand, I’m not surprise since it’s a map coming from one of my favorite mapper !
For those who follow my works, know that I’m working on 2 CTF maps. Which are CTF-Citius & CTF-Fatima. I’m not sure of DM-Citius yet ? Those maps are in the making for more than 1 year now & most of that time is spend on meshing them. CTF-Fatima is mostly done & CTF-Citus at ±40%.
So, you can guess that after putting so much “devotion” in those maps (way to many hours for my taste), I need to take a break on meshing by working on something small, fast to build & for a change, 100% BSP, no SM. Brief ;
DM-Amyrade is a very simple & small map for 2 – 8 players (a bit bigger than DM-Aly), it will be made in few weeks from start to finish between those CTF maps, which I focus on having fun with brushes by using very simple shapes. By making this map, I impose myself some restrictions to see what I can possibly achieve. Those restrictions are :
1. The map must be 100% made of brushes. This is a first for me after few finals maps!
2. No static meshes allowed except pickups, jumpads, movers & teleporters.
3. No terrain allowed.
4. A skydome is mandatory (which is the unique deco SM).
5. All materials must meet UT3 visuals. I mean, using materials based on HD textures with normal maps + detail normal maps.
6. Everything else can be used, like PostProcessing effects, particles, emitters, heightfog actor, decal actors, etc to add dept & atmosphere.
7. Most of my maps took me few months to build. My average is ±8 months. For this one, I wanted to finish it withing 3 months max start to finish.
So, I started to craft the layout this week. My goal is to made it final for April 1, which is my birthday date 😀
I estimate to release alpha 1 in mid-January.
All details are in the map page here.
Slay tune 😉
