How goes the creation of maps by the community for UT4 in october 2015? Frankly, I have never seen so many maps in development for years! Every day, new maps appear in forums and they are so numerous that I have trouble following! This is certainly one of the strongest periods of maps development since UT99, which is saying something strong for a pre-alpha game that is now at its 4th edition in 16 years of history 😀
Just for the remakes, UT4 already count 120 and it continues to increase which is entirely unbelievable considering the game still has the pre-alpha status 🙂 We can easily imagine that with all items in development (GUI, maps, mods, skins, weapons, etc.) that will be added over the years will make UT4 the most popular and most successful of all UTs. A triumph in the FPS world!
For me, knowing that EU4 is free, having experience as a mapper and see all those pretty meshes, it makes me really want to map. However, I have very little time to play UT, so mapping is unfortunately unthinkable 😦 I wish, one day I’ll be able to map again and I would looooooove to remake some of my UT3 maps back in UT4!

It’s crazy how time flies, 5 years already! As for today, Stevie’s Corner reached 124 682 visitors since it’s birth, not bad at all for a individual blog 🙂

The UT3 patch will allow you to play in multiplayer after Gamespy shutdown. The Gamespy shutdown as been announced a while ago. To install the patch, read the info in this Official Gamespy patch info thread.

I am very pleased today to see that my blog has been visited by over 100,000 visitors since 4 years 😀 4 years that I shared with my visitors what is fascinating me in the Unreal universe. I did not think at first that I would even reach 50,000 visitors, thus reaching the double is very satisfying 🙂

I’m glad I finally finished the two maps planned for the next UOF Map Pack (UOF5). This is DM-Mako-L2 and Greed-Mégane Winter Edition. I am very proud of Greed-Mégane WE as it is in my opinion the best of my maps at all levels and I have worked hard to achieve this! But I can reveal the release date of this pack. So, to follow…
I started another low poly (BSP) map since some months now which I didn’t found a name yet. This map is using the ‘Quake 4, PK02 texture set’ by Philip Klevestav. This is the official preview of the pack :

In the UT3 world,
I note that despite several recent publications on BU / Epic forums, threads are almost empty of comments despite there are hundreds of views ? This is very discouraging for level designers 😦 Although we build maps for us at first, it is important to get the community support, otherwise it give absolutely nothing to release something on a forum if no one share their comment ! Players, it takes 10 seconds to write something constructive while we, level designers, take us months to build a quality map. So comment if you want to download other maps in the future ! Do not wait until the forums are empty before doing it 😉
In the UDK world,
Although a little slow since the past months, very interesting projects continue to appear on the Epic and Polycount forums. I am amazed to see so many quality projects. This is great !
