I’m using completely new assets from the Modular SciFi Season 2 Starter Bundle. Again, I had to redo everything from scratch so I could use them in the UT4 Editor.
As for the layout, I inspire myself from one of my favorite UT2003/UT2004 map called DM-1on1-Crash made by Paul Fahss. The map was part of Epic UT2003 bonus pack. A remake attempt as already been made by jonzie23 on Epic forums a long time ago called DM-Crash (Remaster) but as been abandoned. And like DM-Chroma, DM-Chroma FPS and DM-Coda, it is a new map, not a remake.
I honestly founded it very hard to mesh this map. It was my most difficult map to mesh so far for UT4. Most meshes in this pack are made to be used in a certain way and using them in another way doesn’t work at all 😦 So I was very limited in the way of using the meshes. Also, the scale of the meshes, even in the same group, like floor meshes, or ceiling meshes per example, doesn’t use the same scale. So using them side by side to create something that don’t look to much repetitive and to cover a good proportion of the floor and/or ceiling is complicated. I have access to 172 meshes in all but could only use ±5 for walls, ±5 for floor and ceiling. All the remaining are deco meshes. Anyway, it was a very difficult challenge but I’m proud and satisfied of the final result 😀
