Story / Histoire

In a distant future where resources are scarce and conflicts are omnipresent, Picard station, located in a desert area and protected by a powerful force field, has become the scene of a fierce war between rival factions. Mercenaries and elite soldiers clash for control of the precious ore, a vital resource for the future of humanity.

Dans un futur lointain où les ressources sont rares et les conflits omniprésents, la station Picard, localisée dans une zone désertique et protégée par un puissant champ de force, est devenue le théâtre d’une guerre acharnée entre factions rivales. Des mercenaires et des soldats d’élite s’affrontent pour le contrôle du précieux minerai, une ressource essentielle pour l’avenir de l’humanité.

Details

Layout ; I was inspired by the movie Dune: Part 2 to create this environment. The sci-fi genre but taking place in the desert this time. Also, create several unique buildings, each of which has items to covet. A certain distance is required from one to the other, so it is important to use barriers, chimneys, heat sinks, radiators, etc. as protection against snipers.

Gameplay ; The environment allows for a mix of close-range and long-range confrontations. Boots offer plenty of vertical possibilities. There are also 2 pairs of boots, which can be used to obtain the Redeemer and travel a considerable distance between buildings and reach rooftops easily. The large fans on the ground throw the player onto the roof of the nearest building, much to the delight of the snipers! All weapons have 4 scattered ammunition, on the other hand, the sniper has 4 more scattered around the four corners of the level, an important point in TDM.

Visuals ; The assets are the same as DM-Alpu 2050 and DM-Y z e n but this time in a deserted area. I created specific dust particles for ambient dust as well as for large lights on the ceiling.

There is no music track, rather a ambient track which is imported from my UT3 level DM-Valon.

Note, for all my levels I use Temporal AA since it offers the best visuals.

  1. Thanks again for this beauty! It is very spacious, a real sniper map. But enough chances to meet your opponents in the buildings for some close contact 😀 And, as usually, the design is perfect, well thought out!

  2. We played Picard this past weekend and to say we had fun is such an understatement! it was a tremendous blast! So fun to play, so fun to go back and rewatch. I know this will be a favorite for everyone for a very long time! Thank you for sharing this with us! It is amazing!

  3. This is a truly spectacular large map, with great opportunities for gameplay. As there is just one of each weapon type available, and they are located mainly near the central buildings, it is critical to pick up the weapons you need as quickly as possible. The same can be said for the armor. There is just enough health interspersed throughout, and there are many ammo packs in the perimeter buildings and on the ground.

    There are multiple positions well-suited to employ the sniper rifle, including from behind the towers at the corners of the map, and the rooftops of the perimeter buildings. There’s even a case of sniper ammo thoughtfully located on top of the smaller building in the northeast corner.

    On a personal note, I am just amazed at the detail level of the map, especially considering how large it is. The travel patterns in the sand, the particles floating in the air, all of it plus more is crafted with such care and precision. Truly a feast for the eyes, and excellent playability to boot. I give this map my highest recommendation!

    1. Amazing map….at first I thought there should be more players considering it’s large, but the relatively few players in this case creates a great atmosphere….

Excellente map encore une fois, j’aime beaucoup tes cartes en extérieur aussi, tu as l’air à l’aise partout 🙂 lorsque je m’y ballade je ne peux pas m’empêcher de penser à une version de Hadley’s hope de Aliens, mais de jour ! J’ai également eu des soucis dans certains bâtiments qui m’empêchait d’y rentrer mais cela c’est réglé tout seul en téléchargeant à nouveau la Map . Au top !!

  5. This is an incredible map!!! I love the expansive outdoor arena combined with fun interior places for battle! The texturing and sound effects are great, A top 10 map!

  7. Hey Steve, I played your level DM-Picard for a while and must say it was not disappointing. Although I am not a big fan of large outdoor levels, I like this one. Good flow from the insiders bunkers to the outside environment ,masterful use of lighting and colours indoors,and placement of weapons and power-ups again top notch.The placement of the buildings apparently makes the level a bit smaller,it doesn’t feel like an outdoor level. In short, I enjoyed your map again!!
