Layout ; The layout is very simple and compact, designed to accommodate 2 to 3 players in DM and also very enjoyable in 2on2 in TDM. Items are arranged so that players must constantly move. It’s also highly advantageous to perform lift jumps to utilize the three conduits located directly above the lifts. I took a lot of time to ensure that the bots were perfectly capable of performing liftjumps in all possible locations.
Gameplay ; Given its small size and simple layout, the gameplay is genuinely fun, and the limited health and armor keep the player constantly on the alert. The only power-up is invisibility, the positioning of which is excessively exposed and dangerous. Let’s just say the tension is at its peak when he’s caught!
Visuals ; I went for an old-school level design, meaning, without static meshes and built from 100% BSP, like I did with DM-A v A. For this, I used the Philip Klevestav textures pack 01. However, the textures are in 256 or 512 Bytes resolution, an extremely low quality by today’s standards. So, I upscaled them to 1K, 2K or 4K with powerful upscaling software. I’ve always liked a theme where the sun is red-orange and the other secondary light sources are yellow and green. This mix of colors always works well.
The level feature the awesome music track ‘Razorback’ by Necto Ulin coming from his Unreal Tournament 99 remixes album.
Note, for all my levels I use Temporal AA since it offers the best visuals.

This small and fast-playing map is frenzied with 3 players, and still quite intense in one-on-one duel. A central open “rocket arena” with a sniper platform on one end is ringed with ramps, buffered by alcoves containing weapons, ammo packs and a small shield. Glass floor windows in the upper level bridge and above the armor vest allow for two-way spying on enemy activity.
The churning clouds in the fiery orange sky complement the earth tone color scheme of metallic wall + floor tiles and borders, integrated lift design, and raised grates at weapon spawn points. These are occasionally punctuated by the blue hues of electronics and their sounds from the gentle warbling of the computer terminals to the insistent resonance of the Lightning Gun alcove.
During map testing, Steve was open to placing health vials in the four corners, a welcome aid for player longevity. His later addition of the invisibility added a fun wild card to an already great map! I often grab it and then surprise those going for the armor vest, ambushing them before taking that for myself. And for those inclined to try, there are numerous perches from which to snipe that can only be reached with the translocator. An interesting tactic while invisible 😉
Another great map from Steve, and a pleasure to play when you are wanting a spirited game experience!

This map is fast and furious. Great play design. Love the different ways to attack from. Great weapon placement and love the window in bridge giving insight to lower floor and invisibility. Mucho Fun.
