Story / Histoire

Does DM-Alpu need an introduction? Surely not! My version, more futuristic, is a tribute to this classic.

DM-Alpu as t’il besoin de présentation? Sûrement pas! Ma version, plus futuriste, se veut un hommage à ce classique.

Layout ; DM-Alpu-Tourney was a 1on1 custom level for UT99 made by Paul ‘Tonnberry’ Fahss. It as been remade by several level designers for UT2003, UT2004 and finally UT3. I choose to import the BSP from UT2004 because it is more spacious than the UT99 and UT2003 versions and start from there. DM-Alpu, over time, has proven to be one of the best possible layouts for duelists across all UTs, which says a lot about the quality of the layout in duel mode. The difference is rather at the geometric level because the meshes comes from the same sci-fi pack use in DM-Y z e n instead of using an industrial theme as is the case with all versions to date.

Gameplay ; On the playability side, several small changes have been made to the pickups to adapt the gameplay to the mechanics of UT4. Although this level focuses on duel matches, it can accommodate a few more players.

Visuals ; I went for a rather dirty and worn look, which shows some running history, especially at the lowest floor.

Note, for all my levels I use Temporal AA since it offers the best visuals.
